Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming from the Department of Chemical Pathology of the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong received the Mainland’s Future Science Prize - Life Science Prize with a US$1 million award in recognition of his pioneering contribution to non-invasive prenatal DNA testing. His research is original, with long-term significance and a great international impact.

Seen in the Mainland as the "Chinese Nobel Prize", the Future Science Prize has two categories, namely the Life Science Prize and the Physical Science Prize.

Professor Lo is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong established last year. His achievement is an honour to the Hong Kong science community. It also shows that Hong Kong has top-notch scientific research talents. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will continue to work with the industry, academic and research sectors to promote Hong Kong’s science and technology development.
