HKBIO and the Hong Kong Central Library co-organized a series of talk called "Biotechnology and Me" at the Central Library. The first talk was held on February 18, 2012 at 6:30pm. Speaker, Dr. Bernard Pak Li CHAN, Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering of Duke University, USA and HKBIO Council, shared his experience on the topic "How We May benefit From Biotech" and introduced the career path in biotech.

February 11 - 15, 2012

HKBIO executives had an exploratory trip in Saudi Arabia visiting the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). The delegates were received by the KACST VP for Scientific Research Support discussing the potential collaboration, followed by tours at the National Center for Biotechnology and biotechnology incubator at King Fahad Medical City. The delegates also visited the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). They had meetings with KAUST Provost, the Chemical and Life Sciences Dean and the Economic Development Team to discuss potential collaboration followed by Core Labs tour. The HKTDC - Dubai Office co-hosted a networking dinner with HKBIO to meet Dubai Biotechnology & Research Park representatives and industry players, sharing with each other biotech developments of both regions and potential collaborations.

Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO)Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Scottish Development International (SDI) co-organized a seminar with Prof. Ian Wilmut on "Global Opportunities in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine" at the Hong Kong Science Park. Prof. Wilmut is renowned for his expertise in stem cell research and success in cloning. The seminar was both very informative and inspiring on R&D as well as industrial commercialization. Attention was also deserved for the Q&A section, where Prof. Wilmut provided valuable comments for each specific question asked by the attendees.
