Hong Kong Biotech Horizon 2017 "Global Congress on Biotechnology: Diagnostics and Therapeutics"

HONG KONG (1 December 2017)- Hong Kong Biotech Horizon 2017 “Global Congress on Biotechnology: Diagnostics and Therapeutics” was successfully held during 22-26th November 2017 (Wed - Sun) at Charles K. Kao Auditorium, Hong Kong Science Park (HKSP).

The Congress was organized by Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, co-organized by Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation and Asian Fund for Cancer Research and was funded by ITC. The Congress gathered numerous medical professionals, scientists, technologists and global leaders coming from worldwide who shared their insights on a broad and exciting programme comprising the latest developments in biotechnology.

The Congress was one of the official events to commemorate Hong Kong’s 20th Anniversary since its return to China. It was composed of speeches, symposia and public talks engaging the public community and raising awareness of the importance of science in society. In addition, this Global Congress offered a great opportunity to meet and mingle with an enthusiastic crowd of participants who are keen to obtain first-hand information on how to leverage the golden opportunity of China’s economic growth, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Belt and Road Initiatives.

Contents of the five-day Congress were extremely fruitful and inspiring. A number of famous speakers were invited to deliver speeches. For example, Mrs. Fanny Chiu-Fun Law Fan, Chairman of Hong Kong Science Park Corporation; Prof. Lin He and Prof. Kwok-Fai So, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. Bernard Roizman, Honorary President of Shenzhen International Institute for Biomedical Research (SIIBR); Mr. Chang-Wen Ke, Chairman and Chief Specialist of Guangdong Centre for Disease Control and Prevention; Dr. Jing Wang, Deputy Director of Division of Medical and Biological Measurement, National Institute of Metrology (NIM); Dr. Ru-Yi He, Chief Scientist of China Food and Drug Administration Evaluation Center etc.

Hundreds of participants attended Hong Kong Biotech Horizon 2017 “Global Congress on Biotechnology: Diagnostics and Therapeutics” and the Congress was viewed by over 2500 people from a number of countries through the live broadcast online. The active participation and the number of participants were indeed encouraging.
