Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair

May 7 - May 9, 2012

HKBIO fully supports the Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council during May 7-9, 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. As Asia's premier medical fair, it showcases medical devices and supplies, including medical & laboratory equipment, disposables, and brings together product developers and businesses looking to market these products. Central Library Talk by Prof. Albert Cheung-Hoi YU

HKBIO and the Young Adult Library of the Hong Kong Central Library co-organized a series of talk called"Biotechnology and Me" at the Central Library. The second talk was held on May 5, 2012 at 6:30pm. Speaker, Prof. Albert Cheung-Hoi YU, Vice Director of Neuroscience Research Institute & Department of Neurobiology in Peking University and Chairman of HKBIO, introduced some basic knowledge in biotechnology and how a single invention could benefit the rest of the world as a whole.

2012 Hong Kong Science Park Recruitment Day

This is an annual recruitment event organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation in order to attract potential talents especially for the innovation and technology industry. Dr. Terence LAU, Executive Vice Chairman, spoke on the topic, A Career in Biotech - Technology of the 21st Century, as one of the Career Talks. HKBIO was a supporting organization of the event.

Shenzhen Boat Trip

Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO) is dedicated to facilitate communication between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. A boat trip was organized again to strengthen relationships and foster collaborations. The event was joined by Institute Minister for Popularization of Science of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology Mr. Nan SUN, Director of the Research Centre for Neural Engineering of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences Dr. Liping WANG, representative of the Science Magazine Mr. Bill MORAN, Honorary Fellow Prof. Hsiang-Fu KUNG, Chairman Prof. Albert YU, Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Terence LAU, Council Member Prof. Christopher CHENG and Dr. Bernard CHAN, and also friends from the Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as biotech industry players in Shenzhen. The group of 40 shared the relaxing atmosphere while exploring opportunities for collaboration.

BIA Research and Development Conference

Organized by the UK BioIndustry Association, this year's conference was focused on oncology, inflammation/immunology and personalized medicine. HKBIO was invited through Meetings & Exhibitions Hong Kong (mehk) to introduce on the biotech landscape in Hong Kong and Asia. Our members enjoyed complimentary display of their corporate information at the Hong Kong Booth. The conference attracted over 130 people at the Wellcome Collection in London.
